We're selling a car on CL, and my dad got this message today. He forwarded it to me, and it seemed like something CL wouldn't do. So I googled it, this site came up.

Thanks all!

I also received this scam with similar instructions and reply to obot@cars-craiqlist.org as well as the "interest" e-mail with different reply address from the sender.

I got it too. I'm pretty good at catching scams but this one got . What they do is get your email and posting ID and replace your ad with theirs . They put a reply web site right on the photo.

I also got this message. I got an e-mail that simply asked; "Still available" I replied "yes" and ask them to contact me at the provided number. Just a little while later I got the human verification e-mail. I read through it and it looks legit with the exception of misspelled words and improper use of the English language. I looked at the address it came from and it seems very convincing. I deleted the e-mail check my posting and it was still active. When I sell through Craig’s I now tell them that if the ad is posted the item is available and that I will update accordingly. I ask that the interested party either text me or call me and that all transactions will be local. I will not respond to anything that does not meet my specifications. Hope these tips work for all who read.

Never follow links (from Craigslist or any other websites) via an e-mail link!!!
Just go to the website itself, to see if there is anything to confirm or edit! Spammers are scum, and getting better at it. The novice internet user is easily lured into downloading a virus etc.

Got this many times. It does not look right from the first glance. Too complicated process they are requesting. And then "warning...warning...warning", which professional use this kind of words in a customer letter?

I experienced this exact message. Last night I received an 'interest' email and noticed the reply address was different from the sender, but sent some info none the less. Six hours later I received this message. A google search returned this website and has tipped me off that it's definitely a scam.

Thanks =)
